Trauma Recovery and Prolonged Exposure

Mountain Climbing Teamwork

Trauma recovery is a central focus of my Occupational Therapy practice, and I offer specialized support to individuals navigating the complex effects of trauma. One of the approaches I use is Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE), an evidence-based treatment that helps clients confront and process traumatic memories in a safe, controlled manner. Through this process, I guide individuals in gradually re-engaging with memories, places, or situations they may have been avoiding due to trauma. The goal is to reduce the emotional intensity of these triggers, helping clients regain control over their responses and reduce the impact of trauma on their daily lives.

My role as an OT in trauma recovery is to create a safe and supportive environment where clients can navigate their experiences at their own pace, while also integrating practical strategies that support emotional regulation in the moment and in life.

Together, we work to build coping skills, enhance self-awareness, and re-establish a sense of safety and stability, allowing clients to move forward with their goals.
